Technical Platform on the Measurement and Reduction of Food Loss and Waste


The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Dubai will take place between 30 November and 12 December. The Conference is set to be a landmark event in the global effort to combat climate change and ensure food security for present and future generations.

The commitment and support of G20 member countries to reduce FLW is highly required in efforts to achieve the SDGs goals. The availability and reliability of data is considered as the main key in measuring and formulating each country's strategy to reduce FLW. 
New guidance was launched by European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) to help food suppliers decide what information to give consumers about storing food and time limits for consumption.
Mediterranean Diet can contribute to Food Loss and Waste reduction
On 23 September 2020, an online event (below a link to its recording) part of the initiative “Mediterranean Diet’s Principles for Agenda 2030”, a series of thematic sessions promoted by the Italian Permanent Representation aimed to raise awareness on how the Mediterranean Diet can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
On 25 March 2020 will start a series of technical webinars, organized by Agreenium (l'Institut agronomique, vétérinaire et forestier de France), UN-ESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific), and FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).
