In a groundbreaking move towards transforming agrifood systems, the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU) has brought together a diverse group of 19 experts from around the world for the inaugural meeting of the Experts Working Group on Green Agriculture.

Using nuclear techniques and biotechnologies, a partnership between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency is playing a vital role as nations worldwide face the impacts of the climate crisis.

Недавний доклад ФАО «От производства, негативно влияющего на природу, до производства, оказывающего на нее положительное воздействие: концептуальные и практические принципы развития сельского хозяйства на основе термодинамики» определяет пути в направлении создания устойчивого сельского хозяйства в условиях cуществования экологических кризисов и проблем в области продовольственной безопасности.

По оценкам, около половины устаревших пестицидов в мире находится в странах бывшего Советского Союза, причем большая часть из них в настоящее время сосредоточена в странах Центральной Азии. В советские времена регион был важным сельскохозяйственным центром, особенно в сфере производства хлопчатника с обязательным применением пестицидов и их переизбытком.

Проводимая впервые в истории Продовольственной и сельскохозяйственной организацией Объединенных Наций (ФАО) Неделя науки и инноваций для Европы и Центральной Азии способствовала активному обсуждению и обмену знаниями по вопросам интеграционных взаимодействий между наукой, научными исследованиями и инновациями и процессом формирования политики в целях активизации преобразования агропродовольственных систем в странах Европы и Центральной Азии наряду с повышением их устойчивости, инклюзивности и невосприимчивости к внешним воздействиям.

An event on the role of science and innovation in ensuring food security was held 3 October 2023 at Azerbaijan State Agrarian University in Ganja, as part of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Science and Innovation Week for Europe and Central Asia. The event was jointly organized by the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan State Agrarian University.

Millets take centre stage during FAO event in Ankara, last October 2, 2023. 

The Science and Innovations Day was marked by FAO Country Office in Georgia in collaboration with the World Health Organization Country Office on 3 October 2023.

The event was featured by a public lecture by Professor David Prangishvili about importance of bacteriophages to ensure One Health. The lecture was followed by a panel discussion with participation of renowned Georgian scientists and experts in the area of microbiology, public and animal health.

3 октября в Бишкеке состоялась конференция, на которой собрались ведущие специалисты, чтобы обсудить роль науки и инноваций в сельском хозяйстве Кыргызстана.

Мероприятие прошло в Кыргызском национальном аграрном университете имени К. И. Скрябина и стало частью «Региональной недели науки и инноваций для Европы и Центральной Азии», проводимой Продовольственной и сельскохозяйственной организацией Объединенных Наций (ФАО).

3 октября 2023 года в Ташкенте состоялся День науки и инноваций в рамках Региональной недели науки и инноваций для Европы и Центральной Азии, которая проводится 2-5 октября под эгидой форума ФАО по науке и инновациям 2023 года (16-20 октября).

As a part of Science and Innovation Week, FAO REU is organizing an exhibition to showcase work related to science and innovation.

Используя возможности Интернета вещей, она своим примером олицетворяет волну преобразований, зародившеюся в рамках инициативы ФАО «Цифровая деревня» и захлестнувшую фермерские общины Узбекистана.

FAO Regional Office for Europa and Central Asia is looking to identify experts to contribute to the work on Green Agriculture and related policies, practices, and innovative solutions. The experts will contribute to analyzing, validating information, and share good practices, and policies as technical advisors.

The brochure provides an introduction to the Regional Technical Platform on Green Agriculture, which is a digital, user-friendly, open, intraregional and interregional gateway for sharing information. It is a knowledge repository that facilitates connections among expert networks regarding various technical areas related to green agriculture. The brochure outlines the main features of the RTP and provides guidance on getting involved.

A new strategic partnership will elevate the role of food systems as one of the most impactful accelerators of the SDGs and a critical area for Climate Action.
