Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM)
Ensuring accountability, transparency, and accessibility across the Small Grants Programme
The Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) is a fundamental component of the GEF Small Grants Program (GEF SGP) Environmental and Social Management Framework and as instructed by FAO’s Framework for Environmental and Social Management (FESM) and GEF’s Environmental and Social Safeguard Standards. The GEF SGP welcomes feedback from stakeholders including concerns that may arise from FAO-managed GEF SGP projects.
Efforts are made to ensure the GRM is accessible to all stakeholders, including women, Indigenous Peoples, marginalized, and vulnerable groups, without fear of negative repercussions. FAO is committed to ensuring that its programs are implemented in accordance with the organization's environmental and social standards. FAO will facilitate the resolution of concerns of beneficiaries of FAO programs regarding alleged or potential violations of FAO's social and environmental commitments.
For this purpose, concerns may be communicated in accordance with the eligibility criteria of the Guidelines for compliance reviews following complaints related to the Organization's environmental and social standards guidelines, applicable to all FAO programs and projects.
Who can report and where?
Do you have a grievance or suggestion about the Eighth Operational Phase of the GEF Small Grants Program - Tranche II? Anyone can file a grievance or make a suggestion related to the program and grievances will be handled confidentially. The Grievance focal points will be responsible for recording the grievance and how it has been addressed.
Stakeholders can submit grievances related to the GEF SGP to FAO’s Decentralized Offices, the FAO-GEF SGP Country Teams led by National SGP Coordinators, the National Steering Committees, the Global Program Management Unit (GPMT), and Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
