FAO in South Sudan
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been a steadfast partner in South Sudan’s journey toward food security, resilience, and climate-smart agriculture. Despite the challenges posed by conflict, displacement, and climate shocks, FAO works hand-in-hand with communities to strengthen fragile food systems and protect livelihoods. Central to this effort is the development of the livestock sector, which provides a vital source of food, income, and cultural identity for millions of South Sudanese. Through emergency assistance, agricultural inputs, and sustainable solutions, FAO is helping farmers and herders adapt to a changing environment while laying the foundation for long-term resilience. By aligning with national priorities, FAO continues to support South Sudan’s vision of a resilient, productive, and food-secure future.
