FAO in Tajikistan

Tajikistan joined the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 1995. Initially, the FAO's support focused on emergency responses to locust outbreaks and the provision of agricultural inputs, animal health services and potato seed production.

In 2016, the FAO and the Government of Tajikistan formalized their partnership by establishing an FAO Representation Office in Dushanbe. 

Since then, the FAO has supported Tajikistan in advancing sustainable agriculture, strengthening food security and safety, conserving agrobiodiversity, improving livelihoods and addressing climate change. FAO works with the government and development partners to transform agri-food systems through policy support, technical assistance, capacity development, and field programmes, promoting better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all while leaving no one behind.
