Digital Launch-Turkey of the Report “2020 The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI 2020)”

In celebration of World Food Day 2020, FAO Turkey will organize a digital event on The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2020 (SOFI 2020), to be held on 7 October 2020, in order to share the results of the report with partners and stakeholders in Turkey. SOFI is an annual flagship report jointly prepared by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP and WHO, and contains the most recent and authoritative estimates of the extent of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition around the world.

The event will be broadcast live online and will commence with the opening remarks of FAO Turkey Representative Viorel Gutu, followed by a presentation by Keigo Obara, Food Security Officer from FAO, on the current state of food security and nutrition in the world based on the results and findings of the SOFI 2020 report. This will be followed by a panel session organized by FAO Turkey with speakers from FAO, IFAD and UNDP, to be moderated by Ms Ahu Orakçıoğlu, which will focus on recent joint work on the “Rapid Covid-19 Impact Assessment on agri-food sector and Rural Livelihoods in Turkey”.
