This year, on 16 October 2020, we celebrate the 40th World Food Day (WFD) and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The theme of World Food Day this year is “GROW, NOURISH, SUSTAIN. TOGETHER: Our actions are our future” – a key message during the COVID-19 global health crisis, which has reminded us all of one of our most basic needs – food.

In close collaboration with the Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul, FAO Turkey will initiate an awareness campaign, within the scope of World Food Day 2020, which will run from 14 to 31 October. The campaign will share messages about World Food Day on billboards, public screens and social media accounts with the hashtags #DünyaGıdaGünü and #GıdaKahramanları.

This awareness campaign will reiterate the theme of World Food Day 2020: “Grow, Nourish, Sustain. Together. Our actions are our future”, and will emphasize the importance of agriculture, food, and sustainable and healthy diets, in the context of the current global struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
