Launch of the report “The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2022” at Özyeğin University

Istanbul, Türkiye, 4 October 2022

On the occasion of World Food Day 2022, FAO-Türkiye will launch the 2022 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World. This annual flagship report, jointly prepared by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP and WHO, contains the most recent and authoritative estimates of the extent of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition around the world.

The report is being launched at Özyeğin University, Istanbul, an institution that is demonstrating an active commitment to addressing social, humanitarian and environmental issues through comprehensive reporting practices. Özyeğin University focuses on sustainability and has pledged to promote well-being and provide evidence-based reporting of its actions and their impacts.

The launch of the report in an academic environment with the interactive participation of youth will allow for in-depth discussion of the issues it raises and contribute to raising awareness of the facts it presents. Higher education students of Özyeğin University will have an opportunity to ask questions of the heads of the respective UN agencies in Türkiye, who will also participate in a panel to examine the facts presented in the 2022 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World.
