14th International LANDNET Workshop

Location: Istanbul, Türkiye

The 14th international LANDNET workshop will take place from 5 to 7 September 2023 in Istanbul, Türkiye. FAO REU and FAO SEC have jointly organized the physical workshop in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye.

The objectives of this year’s LANDNET workshop are to:

  • present and discuss lessons learned from the implementation of land consolidation in Türkiye and the need for land banking;
  • present and discuss new developments on land consolidation, including those related to multi-purpose land consolidation in Eastern Europe;
  • discuss policy options to address land abandonment and develop agricultural land markets.

The first day of the workshop will focus on land consolidation and challenges in land use. The topic of the second day will be land consolidation in Türkiye with a planned field trip to land consolidation project areas in Bursa. The main themes of the final day will be land abandonment, land market development and multi-purpose land consolidation.

The language of the workshop will English with simultaneous translation into Turkish and Russian.
