International Millet Year Izmir Workshop: The Place of Millet in the Kitchen and its Gastronomic Potential

The United Nations General Assembly, during its 75th Session held in March 2021, declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as the lead institution celebrating this year, aims to raise awareness about the important contribution of millets to food security, their nutritional benefits and their potential for production under challenging climate conditions.

This event highlights the journey of millet in the kitchen and aims to discuss the potential, dynamics and gastronomic importance of Türkiye’s millet production, and its various applications. It brings together gastronomy experts, agricultural specialists, farmers, researchers and stakeholders to evaluate this potential, marketing opportunities and trade prospects while fostering collaboration for future projects.
