Celebrating World Food Day

The theme of this year’s World Food Day (WFD) is “Water is life, water is food. Leave no one behind”. The campaign encourages governments, the private sector, universities, civil society and all sectors, including youth, to explore ways to produce more food and other essential agricultural products with less water, while at the same time restoring soil and water systems and ensuring equitable access to water, leaving no one behind.

 

The main World Food Day event is organized by FAO in cooperation with the Federation of Food & Drink Industry Associations of Türkiye (TGDF) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, who will jointly present World Food Day Plaques to recognize those who have contributed to water efficiency. Speakers include Viorel Gutu, FAO Sub-regional Coordinator for Central Asia, FAO Representative in Türkiye, İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, the Director-General of Water Management, the Director-General of Agricultural Reform and other influential individuals from Türkiye’s food industry.
