Launch of the Global Report on Food Crises 2018 and Joint FAO/WFP Briefing of the Members on the situation in the Sahel

On 22 March, the 2018 Global Report on Food Crises will be at FAO headquarters, Rome. The Report draws attention to rising levels of food insecurity and malnutrition, particularly associated with conflict and the impact of extreme climate events. The Report is being presented during a meeting with the participation of FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva, EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica, the Charge d’Affaires for the US Mission to the UN Agencies in Rome Thomas Duffy, IGAD Executive Secretary Mahboob Maalim, CILSS Executive Secretary Djime Adoum,  and the WFP Executive Director David Beasley.

Immediately, after the launch, FAO and WFP will provide a briefing on the situation in the Sahel, focusing on pastoral communities and feedback from the recent mission to Niger of the FAO and WFP Directors of Emergencies.
