The One Health Future We Want: One Health Youth Dialogue

Virtual Meeting
05.10.2021
 Rome time

With the COVID-19 pandemic signaling a historic moment to build transformative resilience across our health, food and ecosystems, the momentum to strengthen a One Health approach is gaining greater political and stakeholder traction. As part of the One Health Vision Paper which was agreed by the Tripartite Secretariat, youth engagement and participation has been identified as one of the core strategies to advance One Health advocacy. Youth engagement has long been highlighted in the global development narrative, in order to increase the sense of ownership and attachment for younger generations for the global development agenda. In addition, youth engagement will also contribute to finding more sustainable and effective solutions, as their ideas could drive social changes and generate positive outcomes.

As FAO chairs of the Tripartite Secretariat for 2021/2022, FAO seeks to advocate for One Health through youth engagement, the future generation who will have to take the burden of current global challenges, to bring them to the center of the narrative as the game changer to One Health issues.
