As the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture draws to a close, this year’s World Fisheries Day is an opportunity for FAO, the Holy See and partners to discuss how social protection, when integrated in fisheries policies, can support equitable development of the sector, help mitigate the impact of shocks and enable small-scale fisheries to thrive.

The theme of this year’s World Fisheries Day is “Investing in social protection to secure equitable Blue Transformation in the fisheries sector” and a hybrid high-level event will be held in partnership with the Holy See and Stella Maris at FAO’s headquarters.
