The overall objective of the study is to build a better understanding of the potentials of the coffee sector in Yemen, analyze challenges and upgrading opportunities, and identify key policy, technical assistance, and investment entry points to increase the private sector’s competitiveness and growth along the coffee value chain, and increase the contribution of the agricultural sector to the overall Yemeni economy.

Conflict, economic decline and climatic shocks continue to erode the resilience of rural communities in Yemen. Many rural households have lost their productive capacities due to displacement, the collapse of agricultural infrastructure, limited access to inputs and services and the fragmentation of agrifood systems. As a result, rural households who once relied on their own food production are relying on humanitarian assistance to meet their food needs.
