United Nation Environment Program (UNEP) and FAO Webinar: Agroecology in action – an integrated approach for Sustainable Development Goals
United Nation Environment Program (UNEP) and FAO are pleased to invite you to the webinar “Agroecology in action – an integrated approach for Sustainable Development Goals”. The webinar will be held in English on 8 September at 4 PM East Africa Time (GMT + 03:00) and is part of the Scaling up Agroecology Initiative and UNEP “Resilient agriculture and sustainable food systems” Task Force.
Despite the huge challenges faced by the agriculture sector, such as climate change, environmental degradation, biodiversity reduction, rapid population and economic growth, sustainable and resilient agriculture offers tremendous opportunities to realize the Sustainable Development Goals, producing more and better food while protecting and restoring the environment, and improving livelihoods.
In this webinar, the experts will discuss:
- how diversified agroecological systems have demonstrated to address poverty, hunger, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and can realize 12 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in areas such as health, education, gender, water, energy and economic growth;
- the reasons why agroecology is important for UNEP’s work and the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.
The online event will be moderated by Ms. Siham Drissi, UNEP Ecosystem division Programme Management Officer with the following panellists:
