The Initiative for the Central African Forests (CAFI) supports strategic, holistic and country-level REDD+ and Low Emission Development investments while focusing on Central African high-forest cover countries. Its objective is to recognize and preserve the value of the forests in the region to mitigate climate change, reduce poverty and contribute to sustainable development.

CAFI’s objective will be attained through substantially scaled-up international support to transformational reforms and ambitious investments on the ground.

CAFI Secretariat launches a call for expressions of interest to select one or more implementing agencies to develop programs in accordance with the programmatic framework approved between the Republic of Congo and CAFI, along the following 6 axes:

1. Land use planning / integrated and planned land management 
2. Development of agro-ecology and agroforestry in savannah and degraded forest areas
3. Establishment, sustainable management and monitoring of the Permanent Forest Estate (DFP) and the Non-Permanent Forest Estate (DFNP) 
4. Development and implementation of master plan for sustainable energy supply in Brazzaville and possibly Pointe Noire 
5. Improvement of the system for carrying out and monitoring Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (EESS) 
6. Capacity building of non-governmental actors for the implementation and monitoring of the Letter of Intent commitments

The tenderers or consortiums tenderers must belong to United Nations system agencies, the World Bank, international cooperation organizations, international non-governmental organizations or research institutes.
