Ad Hoc Expert Team on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture

In 1995 the FAO Conference decided to broaden the Commission’s mandate to cover all components of biodiversity of relevance to food and agriculture. In 2013, the Commission, at its Fourteenth Regular Session, invited countries to officially nominate a National Focal Point to lead the preparation of country reports on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture. In 2019, FAO launched the report on The State of the World’s Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture. In 2021, the Commission agreed on and the Council endorsed the Framework for Action on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture. In 2023, the Commission established the Ad Hoc Expert Team, which consists of up to five experts from each region.
