Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

Global instruments

International agreements, global plans of action and other instruments play an important role in addressing the conservation, use and transfer of biological diversity at regional, national and international levels.

To address the main gaps and challenges identified in the global assessments, the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture may decide to agree on policy responses, such as Global Plans of Action, guidelines or standards through which governments commit to take action to promote the conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources in the respective sector.

The Commission’s Multi-Year Programme of Work foresees regular reviews of the global instruments.
