Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

Monitoring

The Commission monitors the status of genetic resources and activities taken by countries to implement the Commission’s instruments and the impact they have at country level.

Indicators have been developed to monitor the state of conservation, use and development of genetic resources, as well as the actions taken by countries to implement the Global Plans of Action. They are also used as indicators to measure progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The Commission plays a leading role in the development and promotion of international targets and indicators for specific sectors of genetic resources for food and agriculture, aiming to achieve coherence and improve cooperation among relevant international fora and organizations and to reduce the reporting burden of countries.
