Data and Indicators

NEW7. FAO Laos (1)

Access to high-quality data is crucial to the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of biodiversity for food and agriculture.

One of the main functions of FAO is to collect and disseminate timely and reliable food and agricultural statistics globally. It develops statistical methodologies and standards and helps member countries to develop statistical systems through technical assistance and capacity development.

FAO is the custodian agency for a range of indicators used to measure progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). It also hosts databases that monitor many of the variables required to inform evidence-based policies and interventions that help ensure food security and safeguard biodiversity.
