The Regional Dialogue on Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems in Europe and Central Asia will be organized in the region to initiate the discussion on the FAO’s programme the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS), and raise awareness on the advantages to become a GIAHS site. Put emphasis on the importance on the safeguard of the traditional agricultural systems that sustain and conserve biodiversity and genetic resources for food and agriculture, respect and promote rural livelihoods and knowledge systems, moreover enhance the importance of those sites what have withstood climate variability for centuries, showing a remarkable ability to reduce the impacts of climate change by building resilient ecosystems that preserve agricultural biodiversity.

Introduce existing sites from the region and raise awareness on the roles and added values of the GIAHS sites to the countries such as safeguard the biodiversity and adapt for the changing climate. More than 18 participants will be present from six countries to increase their knowledge about the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS).
