Mexico increases support prices

01/08/2018,

On 31 May 2018, the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (Sagarpa) increased the 2018 support prices for maize, sorghum and rice by 20 percent due to the higher fuel and agricultural input costs. Prices of wheat and durum wheat were increased by 14 and 22 percent, respectively. New prices were also set for soy beans, cotton and oilseeds (canola and sunflower). The aim of the measure is to boost domestic agricultural production and ensure remunerative prices to farmers.
