La exitosa implementación del Programa Global de Doctores del Suelo (GSDP, por sus siglas en inglés) en Chile es una iniciativa conjunta entre el Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero (SAG) del Ministerio de Agricultura, en colaboración con la Facultad de Ciencias Agronómicas de la Universidad de Chile, el Instituto de Desarrollo Agropecuario (INDAP) y la Alianza Mundial por el Suelo (GSP, por sus siglas en inglés) de la FAO. El promotor nacional es el SAG.
El Ministerio de Agricultura Ganadería y Alimentación (MAGA), con el acompañamiento técnico de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y al Agricultura (FAO) y el financiamiento del del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos, dio a conocer el proyecto:
“Mapeo para Sistemas Agroalimentarios Resilientes en Centro América y África subsahariana (SoilFER)”.
Zambia has taken a significant step forward in soil management with the inauguration of the Zambia Soil Laboratory Network (ZASOLAN). This initiative, a collaboration between the Zambian government, FAO and its Global Soil Partnership, as well as the Soil mapping for resilient agri-food systems in Central America and sub-Saharan Africa (SoilFER), aims to provide an interactive platform for soil laboratories. Its purpose is to facilitate the sharing of best practices in capacity building and transfer of knowledge among participating laboratories, drawing from the experiences of the Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN).
The GSP joins the IUSS in the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, observed annually on February 11th, celebrates the vital contributions of women and girls to the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This day recognizes the importance of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in scientific endeavors worldwide.
The funds will enable FAO to upscale national and regional capacity building in soil assessment and sustainable soil management worldwide
