During the 7th session of the GSP Plenary Assembly, the GSP Secretariat highlighted the success of the Regional Soil Partnerships and of several existing National Soil Partnerships. The latter bring together a range of national soil stakeholders and ensure a consolidated approach to actions of the GSP and other major initiatives related to the sustainable management of soil resources at the national level. As a result, on the 26th of August 2019, Gambia formally established its National Soil Partnership.

Para combatir la erosión y degradación del suelo se está implementando el “Programa de promoción de manejo sostenible de la tierra” (ProTierras), y la FAO es la agencia responsable de la supervisión y provisión de asesoramiento técnico en coordinación con el gobierno de México (SEMARNAT y SADER)* juntamente con el financiamiento del Fondo Mundial para el Medio Ambiente.

The Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) held its tenth working session from 13 to 17 May 2019, during the Global Symposium on Soil Erosion (GSER 19) at FAO Headquarters in Rome. The report of the meeting has just been released and is available online.
