Guyana is extremely susceptible to a number of hydro meteorological, biological and technological hazards. The Agriculture Disaster Risk Management Plan symbolizes the unwavering commitment of the Government of Guyana and the Ministry of Agriculture to risk reduction and people focused development. It presents a multi-hazard holistic framework for effectively mainstreaming disaster risk reduction (DRR) into the agriculture sub-sectors, with the long term goal of protecting livelihoods, social capital, food and nutrition security and Guyana’s wealth creation potential.

FAO; Republic of the Philippines Department of Agriculture; European Commission: Regional Plan of Action for Disaster Risk Reduction in Agriculture 2014-2018, Bicol Region, Philippines
Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the agri-fishery sector is one of the key challenges faced by Department of Agriculture considering that most of the government efforts in DRR as well as CCA (Climate Change Adaptation) are still focused in saving lives rather than livelihoods. Bicol Region, due to its geographic location, experiences about 20-22 tropical storms/typhoons annually that trigger landslides and widespread flooding that results to heavy losses in the agriculture industry. The development of this Plan of Action builds upon the lessons learned from being frequently affected by hydro-meteorological hazards, volcanic eruptions, pest and disease infestation.

The purpose of the Phased Agricultural Livelihood Needs Assessment Framework and Tools document is to provide minimum common standard assessment indicators and survey methodologies to understand and address the food security and agriculture needs of populations affected by crises. The goal is to establish a standardized corporate framework and toolbox to guide FAO staff in conducting emergency needs assessments. Tools for conducting emergency needs assessments can provide additional baseline data for planning and prioritizating interventions for climate change adaptation.

This resource book is a reference and training guide for building the capacity of agricultural extension workers and development professionals to deal with climate change impacts and adaptation, specifically targeting drought-prone areas of Bangladesh. It also presents suggestions for a three-day training course that would be readily adaptable for any areas of Bangladesh affected by climate-related risks. The information presented on climate change adaptation would enable participants to prepare, demonstrate and implement location-specific adaptation practices and, thus, to improve the adaptive capacity of rural communities and their livelihoods to climate change in agriculture and allied sectors.

This booklet describes the importance of increasing the resilience of agriculture-based livelihoods against threats and crises within Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). FAO’s resilience work is multisectoral, encompassing all aspects of agriculture: crops, livestock, fisheries, aquaculture, forestry, natural resource management and value chains. FAO assists countries to increase the resilience of households, communities and institutions to more effectively prevent and cope with threats and disasters that impact agriculture, food security and nutrition. Disasters and crises do not just have immediate, short-term effects – they undermine livelihoods and national development gains that have taken years to build.

UNDP & Global Gender and Climate Alliance: Gender adaptation and disaster risk reduction - Policy brief
The policy brief gives an overview of global climate efforts and their linkages with gender mainstreaming. In the domains of adaptation and disaster risk reduction, writers notice an increasing recognition of the need for gender-responsive action in response to climatic and disaster risk. Gender equality and women’s empowerment are seen as key to the success of all post-2015 multilateral agendas, including 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement, the Sendai Framework, and all future actions on reducing climatic and disaster risk.
