La Plataforma de la Agricultura Tropical (TAP)

TAP/GFAR Webinar on 7 November: “Sharing Knowledge on Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation through TAPipedia”

The Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP), hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with GFAR, is preparing a webinar to present TAPipedia, a global information system to enhance knowledge sharing in support of developing capacities for agricultural innovation, established with support of the EU-funded project Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation System (CDAIS). TAP is an active partner in GFAR’s efforts in fostering collective actions to improve capacity in agri-food research and innovation.

The webinar on ‘Sharing Knowledge on Capacity Development (CD) for Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS) through TAPipedia aims to raise awareness of the role of TAPipedia in disseminating innovative and systemic approaches for capacity development. TAPipedia, developed in the context of TAP and hosted by GFAR, is a portal in three languages (English, French and Spanish) that allows TAP partners and other stakeholders to share their own applied and context specific CD for AIS resources and to get acquainted with similar knowledge from other sources, partners and regions.. TAPipedia also assists TAP members to present, explain and promote the TAP Common Framework on CD for AIS and its practical approach to Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation aimed at harmonizing the diversity of existing CD strategies through an AIS perspective. TAPipedia focuses on facilitation, learning, documentation and knowledge management to increase innovation capacities of individuals, organisations and of the environment that enables them to operate.

To optimize the search options for users and to harvest relevant resources from partners’ repositories, 54 terms were selected for the TAPipedia taxonomy through a participatory process among TAP experts.

In this webinar, TAPipedia’s main features will be presented, focusing particularly on the interactive section explaining the TAP Common Framework, which is currently being tested in eight countries of the CDAIS project, and other key resources developed under TAP and the CDAIS project.  In addition, experiences from the CDAIS project regarding the use and relevance of TAPipedia will be shared.

At the end of the webinar, it is expected that participants will be encouraged to explore the portal, to discover its resources, to register to the TAPipedia network and to share their relevant material.
