Description: In 2019, the University of Freiburg and FAO started a collaboration in the areas of forestry, natural resource management and rural development, focusing onthe enhancement of technical capacities and knowledge exchange. A further objective of the partnership is to engage young professionals through the promotion of workshops, lectures, trainings, and visits, in topics focusing on forest and natural resources management, and on mitigating the effects of climate change.

Description: In June 2022, FAO and the University of Sassari, Desertification Research Centre, signed a General Agreement to enhance the visibility of the actions and outcomes of the “Sustainable Approaches to Land and Water Management in the Mediterranean Drylands” Project (SALAM-MED). The agreement also aims to strengthen the capacity of farmers and other stakeholders, fostering innovation in sustainable land and water management across the Mediterranean region.

Description: FAO and University of Tsukuba (UT) have collaborated since 2015, promoting capacity development and knowledge exchange on topics of sustainable development and food security. The internship program offered at the FAO Liaison Office in Japan represents an important component of this partnership with many UT students participating.

Description: The collaboration between FAO and the University of Torino started in 2008 with the objective to promote activities connected with the sustainable development of mountain areas. Since then, the International Programme on Research and Training on Sustainable Management of Mountain Areas (IPROMO) has been training stakeholders on management policies, community approaches and methodologies to assess its social and ecologic impacts.
