The Universidad de Alicanta (in Valencian, Universitat d'Alacant) is a Spanish public university based in San Vicente del Raspeig (Alicante). It was created in 1979 on the structure of the Centro de Estudios Universitarios (CEU), which had begun operating in 1968. Alicante thus regained the university studies that had been suspended in 1834.
