Malmö University (Malmö universitet) is a public university, open, innovative and boundary-crossing university that handles complex issues and societal challenges.
December 1996, the government approves the establishment of Malmö University (within Sweden it is known as Malmö högskola and nationally is not given full university status). The new higher education institution is to include parts of Lund University, such as the School of Dentistry (founded in 1948) and the Teacher Training School (founded in 1960).
