The Federal Horticultural Center for Breeding, Agrotechnology and Nursery was established in 1930, based on the Moscow Regional Agricultural Experimental Station, which was originally founded on June 1, 1913. It is a multidisciplinary research organization whose mission is to conduct fundamental, exploratory, and applied scientific research in the fields of biotechnology, physiology, virology, biodiversity conservation, phytopathology and entomology, genetics and breeding, nursery science, as well as horticultural agrotechnology and mechanization. Its activities are aimed at addressing the most critical challenges and tasks for the development of the crop production sector; producing scientific and technical products on behalf of government bodies and enterprises of various forms of ownership, and assisting in their implementation; and providing scientific, technical, and consulting services to legal entities and individuals related to the center’s core activities.
