The Asociación Latinoamericana de Sociología Rural (ALASRU) is a non-profit professional association founded on November 6, 1969, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It works to create spaces for academic interaction with various organizations, institutions, and researchers focused on the study of Rural Sociology and related disciplines, serving as a permanent reference for social action in the diverse and complex Latin American societies. Throughout its history, the Association has maintained a permanent commitment to social movements and has served as a forum for ongoing exchange between academics and peasant, family farming, indigenous, and day laborer organizations across the continent.
