الاتحاد الروسي
The Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing (FSBI FNTSO); Федеральный Научный Центр Овощеводства((ФГБНУ) is the oldest and leading breeding institution in Russia.
Its history can be divided into three stages: the first is the Gribovo Plant Breeding Station (1920-1970), the second is the All-Union (All-Russian) Research Institute of Vegetable Crops Breeding and Seed Production - VNIISSOK (1970-2017) and the third is the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing (from 2017 to the present).
A prerequisite for the organization of state production of seeds of garden plants for the northern non-chernozem zone of Russia was the lack of seeds, caused by the cessation of their supply from the southern regions, as well as from abroad due to the civil war, which prompted the People's Commissariat of Agriculture in 1918-1919 to begin to solve these problems.
