The Instituto de Fermentaciones Industriales (IFI) is a research centre that belongs to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), public research agency attached to the Ministry of Science and Innovation. Its origins date back to year 1939 as Industrial Fermentement Section of the Santiago Institute Ramón y Cajal de Investigaciones Biológicas de Investigacioneses of the CSIC and 1967 It reached the Institute category.
