The Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (IPNA) is part of the network of research centres of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and is currently the only one in the Canary Islands. The IPNA was founded in 1990, the year in which it was agreed to merge two of its own centres, the Institute of Natural Organic Products (IPNO) and the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology (IRNA), the former belonging to the field of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies and the latter to the area of Agricultural Sciences.
