The University of Quindío is an autonomous, public university body with a special regime, created by Municipal Agreement No. 23 of 1960, attached to the Department of Quindius by Ordinance No. 014 of 1982, recognized as a university by Law 56 of 1967 and Decree No. 1583 of 18 January 1975 of the Ministry of National Education, with legal personality, academic, administrative and financial autonomy, independent heritage and may prepare, approve and implement its budget in accordance with its institutional mission and principles.
