The Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco is a public institution of higher education located in the state of Tabasco, in southeastern Mexico. The university traces its origins to the Instituto Juárez, founded in 1879 to provide higher education in the region. In 1958, the institution was reorganized and granted autonomy, becoming the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco. Currently, UJAT has thirteen academic departments located in different municipalities.
