The Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy is the oldest higher-education institution of agriculture in Russia. It was founded on December 3, 1865, by government decree as the Petrovskaya Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. Over the past 30 years, the University has graduated 35,000 agronomists, economists, agrochemists, specialists in soil science, fruit and vegetable growing, and animal science, as well as more than 7,000 teachers for junior colleges and colleges.
Additionally, over 2,700 doctoral dissertations (for the degrees of Doctor of Science and Candidate of Science) have been successfully defended. Thousands of foreign students from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas have also graduated from the University.
