Muhammadiyah University of Jember is one of the universities owned by the Muhammadiyah Association. Its founding was on March 11, 1981, initiated by Muhammadiyah figures and Muhammadiyah residents in Jember, based on the Muhammadiyah Higher Education Establishment Charter Number: 047/III-JTM.81/81, inaugurated on September 1, 1981 and approved by the Government based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 0172/Q/1982 on May 10, 1982.
