The Amhara Agricultural Research Institute (ARARI) is a regional agricultural research organization in the Amhara National Regional State of Ethiopia, established in 1999/2000 by regional council proclamation to serve as an autonomous apex body for agricultural research and innovation. Its core mission is to advance agricultural science and technology to improve productivity, sustainability, and resilience in the region’s farming systems, ultimately contributing to economic development and food security in Amhara and across Ethiopia. ARARI conducts research across various disciplines, including crop and livestock production, soil and water management, forestry, and agricultural biotechnology, develops and disseminates improved technologies and farming practices, provides training and capacity building, and engages in collaborative projects with national and international partners. The institute oversees multiple research centers and programs that generate demand-driven solutions such as improved crop varieties, better soil management techniques, and sustainable farming practices that suites to local conditions.
