The Compendium is an evidence synthesis and analytical tool designed to map, organise and assess documented alternatives to agrochemical pest and nuisance management in African farming systems. It brings together published studies, field experiences and programme evidence covering biological control, agroecological practices, cropping system design, botanicals and other non-synthetic approaches. Each entry is reviewed using a common framework to help users understand the type of intervention, level of field evidence, scale of application, and where available, indications of economic viability and farmer readiness.

The Compendium is intended to help policymakers, researchers, farmer organisations, extension services and practitioners navigate the evidence base more easily, identify promising directions, and understand where stronger support or further research is needed.
