The 2026 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), hosted by Türkiye in Antalya, will take place from 9 to 20 November. The Conference is a defining moment in global efforts to tackle climate change and ensure food security for present and future generations.
For FAO, COP31 provides a key platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing and decision-making on the critical role of agriculture and food systems in climate action. Agrifood systems solutions are climate solutions. As a central pillar of climate action, they help build resilience, support adaptation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while safeguarding biodiversity and ensuring food security for all.

The FAO Strategy on Climate Change 2022–2031 is implemented through Action Plans. The first Action Plan was developed to support the implementation over the period 2022–2025. It was informed by inputs received from FAO Members, FAO Senior Management, FAO technical divisions/units and FAO Decentralized Offices during the various formal and informal consultations conducted for the preparation of the Strategy and since its endorsement by the FAO Council at its 170th Session in June 2022.

At its core, this framework helps businesses move beyond high-level climate commitments and translate net zero and resilience goals into concrete actions that align with national priorities.
