Terra-Optima Wins Morocco’s Edition of the “Reboot the Earth” Hackathon

20/09/2025

On 18–19 September in Rabat, the Reboot the Earth hackathon, co-organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (UNOICT) and the Pôle Digital de l’Agriculture, de la Forêt et Observatoire de la Sécheresse, brought together young innovators committed to advancing climate-resilient digital solutions for agriculture.

The top prize was awarded to Terra-Optima, developed by the ENA AgriTech Club. The project impressed evaluators with its integrated platform that uses artificial intelligence, IoT field sensors and open data to support farmers in improving yields, reducing resource consumption and enhancing climate adaptation. The solution stood out for its scalability and its potential contribution to Morocco’s digital transformation in the agricultural sector.

As winners, the Terra-Optima team will represent Morocco at the FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2025 in Rome, where they will compete in the Agrifood Pitch Battle on 16 October, a global stage featuring 15 emerging startups presenting innovative agrifood solutions to a live audience.

The opening session included remarks from Redouane Arrach, Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture of Morocco, and Alexandre Anh Tai Huyn of FAO Morocco, who emphasized the importance of empowering youth-led digital innovation to address climate pressures.

With Terra-Optima’s achievement, the hackathon highlighted the country’s dynamic innovation ecosystem and its commitment to leveraging digital technologies for more resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.
