Question 5 (opens 2 October)
Input originally posted on 5 October on LinkedIn by Mr Sn Mandal from Nepal:
"Regarding question No. 5, among actions that can be undertaken to improve rural communication policies and services, some may be;
1. Develop community friendly ICTs centers and make easily accessible to family farming communities.
2. Provide affordable or subsidized ICTs services to the targeted communities.
3. Build family farming capacity for smoothly using ICTs tools, and
4. Networking among the stakeholders for information sharing and discussion."
Question 2 (opens 24 September)
It is very simple, our organization is betting on these initiatives because in the world there are free tools that can help in this purpose, for instance YouTube. We are trying to implement a digital channel that will allow [users] to upload technical, productive and rural-relevant content, where access to the internet in the country is improving. This way, if any producer wish to learn more on a specific issue, he/she can watch this video. Similarly, producing a video is not that complicated and it doesn't require sophisticated tools, so that communities, farmers or their sons, will be able to translate their experiences.
Question 3 (opens 26 September)
Access to the internet, the availability of equipment to facilitate work, education and training on these subjects, and I believe that the passage from theory to practice, where you can use information to your advantage, implementing the #AgriculturaCreativa [Creative Agriculture]
Question 4 (opens 30 September)
In the case of Digital Colombia, the Country has been working for improving access to the internet in the territory, I think that, at the same time, we should start training producers, or their children, in the use of this mean of communication, that will serve [as a tool] for decision-making, and will enable it to be a point of diffusion of development of our communities.
Question 1 (opens 22 September)
There are various, in democratization processes, communications play an important role in family farming because they provide information in an agile and timely manner to different communities that depend from agriculture in their daily living.
A particular case is access to product prices in nearby markets; likewise the issue of banking for transfers of cash and / or payment for services; another case is related to security issues because [ICT] allows communications between neighbours and authorities; moreover it is also necessary to record all the information related to planning and use of governmental information such as the issue of rain, among others.
For us as a union, the theme of ICTs is framed in the field of planning and development of the territory, as counting on solid systems in irrigation districts, and it could provide a series of information that allows [users] to make decisions in real time, as the availability of the same of the and its projection, so to arrange markets and improving marketing channels, distribution.
