Hi Fred. FAO is very much involved in fisheries and aquaculture, and there are projects running in Aceh. I am not directly involved in the project you refer to, but let me look into it and I will get back to you. Ideas about new partnerships are very interesting to me as well as many others in this forum. We will focus on new partnerships, projects and next steps during week 3 of this forum, so I hope we can discuss more on this then. Cheers, Michael (FAORAP)

Michael Riggs, Information Management Specialist, FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific Hi! :D My name is Michael and I am FAO's information and knowledge management officer in the Asia-Pacific region. Collaborating with partners around the region I work to improve sustainable development through the application of modern ICT, conduct information assessments, foster partnerships and communities of practice, formulate knowledge strategies, increase the impact of good practices, etc. I have been with FAO for eight years in various capacities related to ICT4D. My educational background is in economics and organizational management. Before joining FAO I was an international project development manager in the private sector. Look me up on LinkedIn.com http://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelriggs if you want to know more about my professional experiences! This is such an exciting field and working together I think we can enhance the positive impact of ICT on agriculture and rural development in Asia-Pacific. I'm really happy that e-Agriculture's first regional forum is focused on this dynamic region! There is a wealth of experience here and I look forward to hearing from everyone and working together to build on our experiences and solve problems together.

Raj, thank you for joining and for your interesting introduction. From reading this, I wonder if you have any examples of where the private and public sector have come together, either formally or informally, using e-tools to bridge the gap and/or promote sustainable practices? From my past experience, India has started quite a bit of activity in this area. Anything you could share with us would be great! Cheers, Michael (FAO RAP)
