Poland’s FoodFakty Safety Week 2023 addresses role of standards in food safety

03/08/2023

For the third time FoodFakty organized a Polish initiative: FoodFakty Safety Week (FFSW) – the cycle of five online sessions around World Food Safety Day  - and thus joined the global celebrations. The official theme of the event this year was: "Food standards save lives", which was the start for a broader perspective of global challenges contained in the WHO global strategy for food safety 2022-2030, paying particular attention to emerging threats.

Additionally, this year, together with the Contact Point of the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission for Poland, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Codex Alimentarius.

The programme of this year's FoodFakty Safety Week was extremely rich in content and addressed to everyone who has a direct or indirect impact on food safety and quality at every stage of the food chain

We have been honored by 41 speakers from key institutions of the food market, science and business, who gave lectures during 5 separate webinars, each ending with Q&A sessions:

12.06 – Food Safety Standards and Culture – The role of standards, managers and top management in building a healthy organization
13.06 – Better nutrition – Impact of processing on public health, diet, nutritional value, FOP, ingredients, additives, allergies, communication
14.06 – Better environment & processes – Packaging, circular economy, ROP, ESG
15. & 16.06 – Join forces for safety – Food safety in the food chain – Biggest Challenges - microbiology / physicochemistry.

For the entire FFSW cycle of webinars, we noted a record number of 4,700 registrations, which actually translated into a total of 3,400 participants during the whole week from 1,300 different organizations and companies. On the attendance lists we saw representatives of all kinds of companies from large to very small, from producers to retail and service providers.
