Zimbabwe's aquaculture sector is booming, with the number of fish farmers surging past 8 000 in the last four years. But imported feed based on fish meal or soybean can account for up to 80 percent of operational costs, making affordable alternatives critical to the sector's growth. FISH4ACP worked with the Chinhoyi University of Technology to test black soldier fly (BSF) larvae as a cheaper, locally available protein source.
