This project aims at enhancing capacities of small-scale farmers with sustainable, productive and climate resilience practices across food systems with education and innovation of are key entry points to tackle interconnected challenges of agricultural production, food and nutrition security, ecosystem restoration, sustainable livelihoods and climate change.
The proposed subprogramme (2024-2025) builds upon the foundations, successes, learnings and best practices of the previous subprogramme named FMM/GLO/129/MUL that was implemented between 19 August 2019 and 31 December 2023.
This proposal focuses on the role of FAO in supporting producer households with a resilience package to enable healthy diets for individuals with greatest vulnerability. While knowledge mobilization targets all 15 countries, the proof-of-concept will cover two countries with the aim of defining the most feasible model for upscaling and replication.
The project is aimed to support the strengthening food security, improved daily balanced diets, and increased income of smallholders and family farmers in tropic, dryland and mountainous regions through the development of sustainable, productive, resilient and competitive value chains of Special Agricultural Products (SAPs), improved access to green technologies, input products and policies.
