The first national mapping of farmers' markets has been launched in Ghana, a pioneering initiative led by the FAO and the University of Cape Coast. The project aims to understand and enhance the different direct-to-consumer models, which are fundamental for increasing the income of small-scale farmers, ensuring consumer access to fresh and nutritious food, and strengthening the resilience of local supply chains. Initial analysis, which began in the Central Region, already highlights the high quality of products and the crucial role of women, providing essential data for future policies in support of more sustainable agriculture.
