Given their central role in childcare, most nutrition interventions target women, however the problem still persists. So, what is really missing in our research and analysis, and in our policies?

Youth – feeding the future. Addressing the challenges faced by rural youth aged 15 to 17 in preparing for and accessing decent work

Rural youth are the future of food security and rural poverty reduction. However, youth in rural areas of developing countries face enormous challenges in preparing for and accessing decent work, including in agriculture. These challenges are even greater for youth under the age of 18. This online consultation invites you to help identify the solutions that can address these challenges. Your contributions will inform the policy and programme recommendations issued by the international expert meeting “Youth – feeding the future: Addressing the challenges faced by rural youth aged 15 to 17 in preparing for and accessing decent work” that will be held by FAO later this year.

Supporting Women’s Land Rights: A Debate on the Gender Evaluation Criteria (GEC)

From 25 Jan.- 5 Feb., the Land Portal Foundation will be holding a debate on the Global Land Tool Network’s Gender Evaluation Criteria (GEC), which were created to assess the effectiveness of land tools in supporting women’s land rights. New e-learning course on gender equality in land governance

A new e-learning course from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) provides specific guidance for ensuring that the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT) are implemented in a gender-equitable way.

Food Security, Gender Equality and Peace-Building

The Institute of Development Studies and the FAO are launching this online discussion focusing on food security, gender equality and peace-building. The results will help inform a study aimed at generating evidence-based, meaningful, and actionable recommendations to governments and other stakeholders, particularly international organizations and FAO staff.

Promoting women’s participation and leadership in producers’ organizations

Open online discussion hosted by FAO's TECA platform.

The objectives of this discussion are:

  • To share experiences of POs dealing with women's inclusion, participation and leadership issues
  • To share successful experiences of women's participation and leadership in POs and cooperatives
  • To understand better issues faced by women producers in POs and cooperatives
  • To identify ways of strengthening women's participation and leadership within POs 

This discussion will start on Monday 23th June and last until 27th July, 2013.
